• 204 student apartments to be built in a joint venture with Cologne-based multi-family office DERECO

• NORSK CEO Schulze Wischeler: “sophisticated yet affordable housing project”

The building permit freshly granted, excavators are set to break the ground – NORSK Deutschland AG is starting construction works for the “onetwoseven” project comprising 204 student and micro apartments in Saarbrücken. On a plot in Meerwiesertalweg – a road connecting central Saarbrücken and the University campus – five buildings with student apartments and two with micro apartments (covering a total of nearly 12,000 sqm of gross floor space) and an additional 89 parking spaces are planned. Part of the power supply for flats and e-charging stations in the underground car park will be provided by a photovoltaics system. The project was planned by the BÄUERLE Architekten + Brandschutz firm of Saarbrücken and it is scheduled to be completed by autumn 2021.

Says Thomas Schulze Wischeler, CEO of NORSK Deutschland AG: “The German market for student housing is still on the rise. Such housing doesn’t just have to be affordable – if you go to college in this day and age, you want to live in contemporary surroundings within the vicinity of the uni and the city centre. You want a flat with all mod cons including a balcony and high-speed WIFI access, plus there should be communal areas and communication rooms with an attractive, emotional design. The ‘onetwoseven’ meets the expectations of today’s students both technologically and ecologically. In addition, the project is a relief for the Saarbrücken market for student housing, which has been under high demand pressure. Affordable flats facilitating a sophisticated, modern lifestyle in the very heart of a city is just the right kind of thing in the right kind of place at the right point in time.”
