DERECO and SCHMEING conclude general contractor agreement

For the first section of a new residential development project in central Moers, building permits have now been granted. Construction activities are scheduled to start soon. The Cologne-based multi-family office for real estate assets DERECO intends to realise this project in cooperation with the Schmeing Construction Group of Bocholt/Dusseldorf. Building contracts were already signed in late 2018.

A modern residential neighbourhood will be built on a plot formerly occupied by Horten/C&A retail outlets in Homberger Strasse. The project consists of several parts adding up to 139 residential units and approx. 900sqm of retail space on the ground floor. An underground car park is planned to cover the entire plot. In addition, mobility factors like bicycle parking spaces outdoors and dedicated bicycle storage rooms in the basement plus car-sharing stations are intended to be built. The plans were developed by the architectural firm Wrede Architekten BDA Planungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG from Dusseldorf.

DERECO expects to complete this project within two years as of construction start.

“We are pleased we’ve been granted building permits for our project in Moers and we’re happy we can begin developing it very soon. What’s more, we’ve been able to lay the foundations for cooperating with Schmeing Bau GmbH. In the project development and construction industry as it currently is, alliances with trusted, strong partners are extremely important for both sides involved. Indeed, the team from the Schmeing Construction Group provided valuable input in the run-up to this project. We hope we can jointly implement similar projects relatively soon,” says David Noll, a member of DERECO’s Executive Board.

“We are looking forward to this project and are going to put all our experience and expertise to good use in this partnership. These high-quality apartments will be a valuable addition to the residential market of Moers,” says Rudolf Schmeing, Managing Partner of the Schmeing Construction Group.
